Prefab pools in Paiania and Glyka Nera
Paiania and Glyka Nera lie on the eastern side of Mount Hymettus, at the gateway to the Mesogeia. Glyka Nera has grown with newly built detached houses and villas, while Paiania still keeps vineyards and gardens around the old village.
With the Attiki Odos motorway right next door, most people here live year-round, so the pool is part of the home all year, not just in summer.
What we watch for in Paiania and Glyka Nera
- Houses with basements: many new homes have a basement. The pool is set at a distance from its walls so the excavation does not affect the house's foundations and waterproofing.
- Irrigation and fertilizer: in new gardens with automatic irrigation, the sprinklers should not spray into the pool. The soil and fertilizer they carry encourage algae growth.
- Mild winters: winters in the Mesogeia are usually mild, so the pool can stay in operation with fewer circulation hours instead of shutting down completely.

Questions
Can the pool stay in operation through the winter?
Yes, in areas with mild winters such as the Mesogeia. The pump runs fewer hours, pH and chlorine are checked less often, and on the few frosty nights the pump can be left running so the water in the pipes does not freeze.
