Prefab pools in Thessaloniki

Winter is colder than in Athens, so the pool is also designed for the months when it is not in use.

What we watch for in Thessaloniki

• The Vardaris wind: this cold northwesterly cools the water and brings dust. A spot sheltered from the northwest makes a big difference.
• Cold winters: before winter, the pipes are drained, the water level is lowered and the pool is covered. The liner is never left without water.
• Slopes in Panorama: in the higher suburbs the pool sits on a levelled terrace and can rise up to 1 m above ground.

Transport and construction

Materials are transported by road from Athens, and the crew stays on the job until it is finished.
