Prefab pools on Mykonos
On Mykonos, the pool is part of every villa's identity. In 2024 we built the pool at Villa Christy.
The island's particular conditions, strong wind, rocky granite ground and scarce water, shape every decision.
What we watch for on Mykonos
- Granite: digging into the rock is difficult. A prefab pool can rise up to 1 m above the ground, so less rock has to be broken.
- Meltemi: in July and August the north wind often reaches force 6–7 on the Beaufort scale. The pool is placed in a sheltered spot, behind walls or the house itself.
- Water: the first fill is usually done with a water tanker truck. A cover reduces evaporation and topping up.

The prefab pool we build
2 mm galvanized steel panels, 1.10 or 1.50 m high, hot-dip galvanized support buttresses and a PVC liner with a 10-year written warranty. Available as a skimmer or overflow pool, and up to 50 m² with a small-scale works approval instead of a building permit. See the sizes.

Which lining suits a villa on Mykonos?
White and very light liners give the turquoise water that goes with Cycladic architecture. SOPREMAPOOL 3D membranes with a stone texture are another option.
