Prefab skimmer pool
A skimmer pool is the simplest circulation system and the one that costs least, and it suits relatively small spaces.
In short: In a skimmer pool the water sits about 7 cm below the edge and is drawn through openings in the walls to the filter. It needs no overflow channel and no balance tank, so it costs less and is finished faster. We recommend it for pools of up to about 60 m².
Why it costs less
A skimmer pool needs no perimeter or side overflow channel, and no separate water tank, which an overflow pool cannot do without. Less construction means lower cost and faster completion.
How the systems differ
The water surface sits about 7 cm below the edge of the pool, and the water is drawn in through skimmer openings in the walls. Otherwise it works just like an overflow pool, and both systems give exceptionally clean water. As a rule, we recommend a skimmer for pools of up to about 60 m². Larger pools are better built with an overflow.
Where the skimmers go
The skimmer openings are placed on the side that the prevailing wind pushes the water surface towards. That way, leaves and dust are carried straight to the filter.
Lining
A prefab skimmer pool is lined with 1.5 mm PVC liner or with SOPREMAPOOL membranes. See the options under pool lining.
