3.5 × 7 m pool: a family pool for a medium-sized garden
With 24.5 m² of water, a 3.5×7 m pool needs about 24–25 m³ with 1.10 m panels or 34 m³ with 1.50 m panels. It is the first size in which a family of four can swim without bumping into each other.
Why half a metre of width matters
The difference from the 3×6 m pool does not look big on paper, but in the water you feel it. With a width of 3.5 m there is room for built-in steps in one corner while a free lane is left for swimming, and two people can move side by side comfortably. The options for the entry are covered in pool steps and ladders: in families with grandparents or young children, wide steps with a non-slip surface make a big difference.

- Water surface: 24.5 m².
- Water with 1.10 m panels: about 24–25 m³, with a water level of about 1.0 m.
- Water with 1.50 m panels: about 34 m³, with a water level of about 1.4 m.
- Approval: a small-scale works approval is enough, with a compact plant room and the engineer's declaration before work starts.
Built-in steps take a little water out of the volume, so these figures are the most you will need for filling.
The maisonette family
The typical scenario is a maisonette or detached house with a medium-sized garden, where the pool will be the centre of summer life:
- parents who want a few strokes early in the morning,
- children playing with friends in the afternoon,
- grandparents sitting on the steps to cool off.

Skimmer or overflow
At 24.5 m² a skimmer easily handles the circulation and keeps the construction simple. An overflow design is an option if you want the water flush with the paving, but the channel and the balance tank take up space that in a medium-sized garden you would rather use for plants or a table.
